Straight answers about the ice
We'd rather you know exactly what you're getting than be surprised when it arrives. Here's the honest breakdown.
What the materials actually mean
- 18K / 14K gold-plated — a real gold layer bonded over a solid base metal (usually stainless steel or brass). Looks like gold, wears like gold, costs a fraction. Plating wears down over years, faster if you sleep, shower or sweat in it.
- Stainless steel — won't rust, won't turn your neck green, holds up to daily wear better than plated brass. The workhorse.
- 925 sterling silver — solid sterling, stamped. Tarnishes over time; a polishing cloth brings it back in seconds.
- Moissanite — a real gemstone, not glass and not cubic zirconia. It's harder than almost anything except diamond and actually throws more fire than a diamond does. It passes a standard diamond tester. It is not a diamond and we will never tell you it is.
- Cubic zirconia (CZ) — lab-made stone, brilliant and affordable. Softer than moissanite, so it can scuff over years of hard wear.
Making it last
- Last on, first off — jewelry goes on after lotion, cologne and hairspray, and comes off before the shower, the pool and the gym.
- Chlorine and salt water eat plating. Take it off before you get in.
- Wipe it down with a soft dry cloth after wearing. That one habit doubles the life of plated pieces.
- Store pieces separately — chains scratch each other in a pile. A pouch or a case, not a drawer.
- Clean with warm water and a drop of mild soap on a soft brush. No bleach, no ultrasonic cleaner on plated pieces, no toothpaste.
Green neck, and why it happens
It's a reaction between skin acidity and base metal, not a defect and not dangerous. It's more likely on brass than on stainless. Keeping the piece dry and clean mostly prevents it.
What we don't sell
We don't sell counterfeit designer jewelry. Nothing in this store carries another brand's logo without that brand actually being the maker. If you see "iced out" here, it means the stones are moissanite or CZ, and the listing says which.
